Mrs. Opal Worthington-Vale (one of the lesser ones) Time: Today Place: Tea Party given by a niece Opal's niece, dreading the potential embarrassment usually offered by her Aunt, and, knowing how offended she would be if not invited, stated the event was a casual Tea Party in honor of her great niece's recent engagement. To the other guests this was a costume party, with the same purpose. The costuming of Aunt Opal was not the real problem, however. It was her penchant for snipping buttons and other shiny objects off clothing worn by others. Not just family and friends, but pedestrians on the street, on the bus, and, unfortunately, at family gatherings. Aunt Opal, in her charming way, will offer a warm hello and a hug, then "SNIP", off goes the fourth button down or the sequin in the rose pattern. These are not then stored away as a keepsake-no-they become part of the wardrobe, hence another dilemma for the family. Your missing button could very well be on the hem of her skirt or the brim of her hat. Kleptomania with a twist. Another sherry, my dear? Mrs. Worthington Vale measures 53" tall. She is designed with vintage and new fabrics. Each piece is a one of a kind. Each new piece will be sligtly different. |
